Privacy Policy for SkinAura
SkinAura (“SkinAura”, “we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a skincare routine and ingredient guidance app developed by Salih Kürşad AYHAN in Türkiye.
SkinAura helps users understand skincare routines, ingredient lists, product checks, scan results, and local skincare context in a calm and protective way.
Important: SkinAura is not a medical device. SkinAura does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. SkinAura does not replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional or dermatologist. If you have a medical skin concern, allergy, severe reaction, pregnancy-related medical question, or urgent health issue, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
1. Information We Process
SkinAura may process the following types of information depending on how you use the app:
a) Routine and app activity information
- AM and PM routine state
- Routine steps you check or complete
- Routine completion history
- Learning or calibration state
- App activity needed to show routine guidance
b) Ingredient and product check information
- Ingredient lists that you paste or scan
- Product names or barcode lookup results when available
- Local product memory, such as previously checked scans on your device
- Skin priority filters or concerns you choose, such as sensitive barrier, acne-prone, pregnancy-related caution, or dryness
c) Camera and scan information
SkinAura may use your device camera for barcode scanning or ingredient-list text recognition. Camera access is used only when you choose to scan. SkinAura does not use the camera in the background.
Camera images are not uploaded to SkinAura servers. Barcode scanning and text extraction are handled on the device where possible.
d) Location and environmental context
SkinAura may request foreground location access to provide UV, weather, humidity, or environmental context. Location is used to retrieve environmental signals such as UV index and weather-related information.
e) Account information
If you choose to create an account, SkinAura processes your email address, authentication identifiers, and authentication/session information through Supabase so the account can be created and used. SkinAura can also be used in guest mode without creating an account.
f) Technical and service information
SkinAura may process technical information required to operate app features, such as network requests to supported backend or external services.
g) Limited product analytics
SkinAura uses PostHog to process a limited set of product-usage events to understand whether core app flows are working and to diagnose reliability problems. These events may use an installation identifier and a session identifier. SkinAura's current measurement design does not link those analytics identifiers to your SkinAura account and does not send advertising IDs, precise location, product names, ingredient lists, protection concerns, or free-form user content as analytics event parameters.
2. How We Use Information
SkinAura uses information to:
- Show skincare routine guidance
- Help you understand ingredient and product fit
- Remember local product and routine context on your device
- Improve the clarity of your daily routine read
- Support barcode, ingredient, and routine checks
- Provide UV and environment-aware routine context
- Maintain app reliability and security
- Measure whether core app flows work and identify reliability failures using limited product analytics
SkinAura does not use your information to provide medical diagnosis or medical treatment advice.
3. Local Storage on Your Device
SkinAura stores some information locally on your device, including:
- Routine progress
- Selected protection filters or concerns
- Local scan and product memory
- Recent ingredient-check context
- Skin memory or reaction-related notes if you choose to provide them
- Learning or calibration state
- Cached UV and environment signals
This local storage helps the app remember your routine and recent checks. If you uninstall the app or clear app data, locally stored information may be deleted.
4. Cloud and External Service Processing
SkinAura may use trusted backend or external services to support app functionality.
These may include:
- Supabase or related backend services for app functionality
- Open Beauty Facts or Open Food Facts for barcode/product lookup
- Open-Meteo for UV, weather, and environmental information
- PostHog for limited product-usage events
When you scan a barcode, the barcode string may be sent to product lookup services to identify the product.
When environment guidance is used, device location coordinates may be sent to an environmental data provider to request local UV, weather, air-quality, or related environmental information.
SkinAura does not sell your personal information.
5. AI-Assisted Guidance
SkinAura may use AI-assisted or rule-based processing to help explain routine context or ingredient fit. This guidance is informational only and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
SkinAura does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency guidance.
6. Sharing of Information
SkinAura does not sell user data.
SkinAura may share limited information with service providers that help operate app functionality, such as backend hosting, product lookup, environmental data, AI/edge processing, or limited product analytics.
These services are used only to provide app functionality, security, and reliability.
SkinAura may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or security of users, the app, or others.
7. Data Retention
Local app data may remain on your device until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall SkinAura.
Backend or external service data, if processed, may be retained only as needed to provide app functionality, measure reliability, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or maintain security. Account-linked server-side data is deleted when a verified SkinAura account deletion request is completed, subject to information that must be retained where required by law.
8. Your Choices
You can:
- Use SkinAura without creating an account
- Choose whether to enter ingredient lists
- Choose whether to scan products
- Choose whether to allow camera access
- Choose whether to allow foreground location access
- Choose whether to select protection filters or concerns
- Clear local app data through your device settings
- Uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device
- Delete a signed-in SkinAura account from the Account section in Profile
- Use our web account deletion request page if you cannot access the app
- Contact us for other privacy support
9. Account Deletion
If you created a SkinAura account, you can initiate permanent account deletion directly in the app from Profile > Account > Delete account.
If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion through our Account Deletion Request page.
Account deletion removes the SkinAura authentication account and server-side data associated with that account in SkinAura's production systems. Data stored only on your device is not automatically removed by deleting the online account; you can remove local-only data by clearing SkinAura app storage or uninstalling the app.
10. Children’s Privacy
SkinAura is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by SkinAura. Network requests use secure transmission where supported. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own depending on the service providers used to operate SkinAura.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new effective date.
